  7. Here is an interesting device, a multiple grenade launcher. This assembly uses 4 Lebel rifle assemblies linked together to create a portable battery that could be fired at once. The grenade used was the Mle. 1916 DR grenade, which was a rifle grenade, and came into service towards the end of 1916. The grenade itself had issues with the percussion fuse, which could cause premature detonation or undesired results upon impact, and was not popular with the rank and file, which is why I suspect they were used more in the battery role instead.

  9. I think everyone feels the same way, but unfortunately we are stuck with it, prices have really risen from the first day on. Everyone with any savings had only the half from the first day on. The Euro was thought to be a bridge over borders, but nobody is travelling now!

  15. Just found while going through some old papers, these were the 1991 series, I think these were the last before the DM was withdrawn on 1. January 2001. They must have been with the papers since Summer 1997. Persons depicted: Bettina von Arnim Annette von Droste-Hülshoff Carl Friedrich Gauss

  28. thanks guys, the carving on the back Greg, is the word ( Zermatt ) can't check under as it is glued down to stop it moving about. the other items with it all relate to a young H.J. BDM girl from Wurttemburg Schwaben which I think is a mountain region most date from 1936 to 1939. here's a photo and Certificate.

  29. The eagle looks like folk art to me, possibly is original though. Germany has a long tradition of wood carving folk art items. The Ore Mountain area (Erzgebirge) of Saxony is most famous for it. As an item to keep a local carving business alive during the war and just before I could see such items being made. It would be good to better read the carving on the back and check for a ink stamp on the under side. Either would be typical and expected of the better carving areas to mark their items.

  30. Here's a few items I've not posted before.. Opinion's on this little carved statue which was in a small display case of H.J items.. hard to date wooden items like this, crudely hand carved, but looks well with other H.J items.
