Dave Posted August 24, 2011 Share Posted August 24, 2011 The Germans used all sorts of captured armour. They could not produce enough for their needs. Most were obsolete to say the least. They were called Beutepanzer - captured or "booty" armour. They must have decided to rub it in to the French by driving them under the Arc de Triumphe. Dave Posted August 25, 2011 Share Posted August 25, 2011 Also had a one man turret as in all French tanks of the period. The commander had to command the tank, load, aim and fire the gun. If he was a squadron or regiment commander he had to command that as well. Too much tactically for one man. The Germans did use quite a few of them but mostly in second line anti partisan duties against forces that did not have armour or anti tank weapons. Many were converted to self propelled guns.
