Greg Posted June 8, 2011 Share Posted June 8, 2011 very odd uniform, it almost looks post war east german but that style uniform was not used in the DDR till the 60s and by then they had switched helmet type. leon21 Posted June 11, 2011 Author Share Posted June 11, 2011 As far as I know the Nebelwerfer rocket projector was similar in operation to a mortar but was used by specialist regiments. The rockets were fired at 2 second intervals in a barrage that sapped the morale of the men on the receiving end. Of all the weapons the German Army had the Allied soldiers hated the Nebelwerfer the most. Iv'e come across another picture of a German prisoner being marched through the streets of liberated Chartres by members of the Maquis in 1944. In what looks like a similar type overall.
