Medals to Pte Hubert Arthur Tyzack RNAS and RAF

Born 8 Feb 1899 signed up on 10 May 1917 aged 18 Occupation Motor Engineer, he was Based at President II

an accounting Base for the RNAS in London and given the No F29101 as an Aircraftman 2nd Class.

He was sent to Crystal Palace a training depot for the RNAS until 10 Nov 1917, he was then sent to Dover until

31 Jan 1918, and then attached to No 17 Squadron 1st Wing on 11 Feb 1918 and sent to Daedalus Dunkirk France

an RAF Airfield. The Squadron was engaged in tactical reconnaissance and Artillery spotting and the odd

bombing raid the aircraft they used was the Royal Aircraft Factory BE 2 C Bi-Plane.

Hubert was re-classed as a Aircraftman Class I ( motor Cyclist ) on the 1st Aug 1918, he was in France until 

27 Nov 1919 and later transferred  to the RAF Reserve on 29 Dec 1919 an discharged.

He Married Elsie A Norton in 1928 in Wandsworth  London, they had a son named Hubert Norton Henry

born in Jan 1930. Hubert Arthur died in 1970 in Blyth  Suffolk were he lived.

France plus his medals.

Here are a few photos of the Phelon & Moore Motor Cycle from Cleckheaton Yorkshire that supplied

most bikes to the RFC and later RAF upto about 1939. This would have been the type of bike Hubert 

used during his time in the RAF.
