Condor Legion

Here is a nice little grouping.

Firstly a wedding photo of one Gerhard Havemann. Second, his Spanish Civil War medal and other ribbons, thirdly his signet ring (which is visible in his wedding photo) and finally a post war driving license that puts a name to the face.

I don’t know much about the Condor Legion but I presume from his ring that he was in Jagdgruppe 88!

Nice thing to research.

Nice set. There were four possibilities - Panzer, Flak, Kampfflieger, Jagdflieger. He doesn't appear to have many other decorations, other than the 4 year service medal and the Kriegsverdienstkreuz. The swastika is missing from the medal ribbon bar, either a postwar replacement after 1957 or removed.

Hi, yes, the swastika has been removed from the eagle on the medal ribbon bar, with magnification you can see where it was snipped off.
