Dave
A lot of people's favourite TR vehicle. I like Forces of Valour as they are in metal, quite well painted and have good figures. Kenny has a good stock. I repainted the gun muzzle as they represent it black as if it was firing black powder. A current artistic modelling fad. Sorry about the poor pics but the sun was strong. It's not as shiny as it looks. Sturmgeschutze Vor!
stewy
I'm gonna see Kenny for one. Stewy
Dave
It's a great model and you get well posed figures as well as some diorama bits.
Greg
I love the STUG but rather am partial to the DRAGON Totenkopf Eastern Front edition.
Dave
Greg is that from the 1/72nd range?
Greg
Yes it is a 1/72, Kenny has it in the shop. I do not think they do a STUG Totenkopf in 1/
Dave
They have a great range in 1/72nd. Forces of Valour and Trumpetor have built up models in this scale too. I wish Dragon would do a Stug in their 1/35th as well as the other Panzers ( and of course something British too). They seem to have stuck with a lot of Tiger 1s, Kingtigers and Panther Gs in various cam schemes and markings.
Greg
They do have great camo schemes and a talent for creating all the small versions of a single vehicle. However I agree too that 1/35 scale needs to be expanded. The one item at that scale I love, but you need to scratch your head why they did it at that scale, is the Loki Heavy tracked Morser... Dave
Yes Loki was a strange choice! Super heavy artillery. As I see them sitting around on dealers shelves or being heavily dicounted to sell, a mainstream vehicle choice would have been more sensible. A British "Firefly" perhaps. Ooops back on my soapbox again.
Greg
Heavy artillery is specialist stuff, anyone can love a tank it has 'sex appeal' if armour has such a thing. A Morser lobs an GIANT shell massive distance, it is not sexy. I like them because they emphasize the height of German artillery power and design and are amazing. Yet that said a Pak 88 is far more amazing as a gun that was effective and did something, it has a track record and affinity for being something other than a mindless hurling thing of heavy explosive. Dave
The 88 was also tri functional Flak, Pak and a great shot with HE. Now I just have to figure out how to tell a Flak 36 from a Flak 37. Mind you the 25 Pounder was a great weapon of war without the hype of the 88. Lasted in service until the 70's too. Probably longer in some armies. I wish someone could persuade my Diane to love a tank cos it's sexy! I keep telling her that they are.
