Fritz
Charente-Maritime, 2006: For over 60 years, locals in this small region in Southern France kept quiet about what they witnessed in Summer 1944, when American Forces shot 13 German prisoners of war. In the year 2006 they were discovered and unearthed after surviving eye-witnesses finally reported what they saw. The average age of the victims was 17. Six could not be identified. They were later buried with full honours in the nearest German War Cemetery in Berneuil. Surviving relatives were informed.
