Fritz
A couple of years ago I came accross a set of documents from the estate of a soldier from a signals unit. These were complete with the decorations including the Iron Cross 2nd class and a Krim or Crimea Shield, as well as two sets of collar patches and shoulder straps and four wartime photos. The dealer was asking too much for the set, but I managed to puchase one set of collar patches and shoulder pieces. The estate came direct from the family of Feldwebel Jürgen Schatz, formerly of 1./Nachrichten Abteilung 240. 1st company, Signals section 240. The lot also included the award documents for wound badges in black and silver, the Eastern Front Medal and the Crimea Shield, along with the original decorations complete with their orignal paper packet of issue, and all in mint condition. Furthermore included were an NSDAP party badge and a ribbon bar with EK, KVK and Eastern Front Medal. Apparently the Kriegsverdienstkreuz and document were missing from the lot for some reason. The inclusion of a party badge was curious, but it can be assumed that as an official of the Deutsche Reichspost, as he was wearing the uniform of such, was probably a party member. The certificate for the Iron Cross is marked as a Zweitschrift, probably for the loss of the original document. Quite an interesting set. The photos show J.S. wearing two different field blouses, one has the longer pointed collar and probably of better quality, the other being standard quality. All documents are named to the recipient as Unteroffizier, the insignia has obviously been upgraded for later promotion to Feldwebel, which is noticeable with the Tresse variations on the shoulder strapes, being the early type in dark green with lemon yelllow piping. Nachrichten Abteilung 240 was raised in October 1940 in Munster Lager, which is near Hanover and the Lüneburg Heath. Photo of his uniform effects now added.

Fritz
Yes, unusual indeed, I also noticed this. I think he has only done this for the photo. He also has with his Krim Shield a dark green backing, an unusual feature, which is sometimes only seen on officers' uniforms. Here is an example, seen under - https://www.themilitarymark.com/german-civilian-organizations/blog-post-title-one-2mry5
Fritz
More photos 1./Na.Abt.240 Fw.J.Schatz Here are further document photos belonging to Feldwebel Jürgen Schatz, 1./Nachr.Abteilung 240 Wound Badges in Black and Silver Eastern Front Medal 1941/42 Krim Shield He was also probably entitled to KVK 2.Kl., document and decoration were not amoungst the lot, just a ribbon bar, and also a party badge, which was probably either from him or a relative. N.B.: These images were kindly sent by the person who sold me the insignia.
leon21
Nice set of documents Fritz,. It's good when you come across sets like these, I myself came across a load of documents and letters for a father and son from Graz, letters and documents for the father a professor going back to 1916 and the son born in 1911 letters and documents up to the end of ww2. I saw the sons wehrpass for sale last year and managed to obtain it and add it to all the others. below are some pages from the wehrpass, can you read what he was doing from 26-3-42 to 6-5-42 and what was/looks like 15 Funkempfangs=kp Ln=Rgt. ?.
