sommewalker Posted December 4, 2014 Share Posted December 4, 2014 home front itemfrom the great war,a BOBBIN FLANGEbobbins, holding spun fibre similar to this one were used in mills in the great war ,as seen by this man (called a doffer),who clears full ones from the machine called a spinning frame,...people often forget the home front when the great war is talked about,but the men /women /children , who were the backbone of this country's.industrial output deserve a mention as well,even the spinners .weavers who provided the cloth to make the various uniforms etc,this one I picked up from the museum of London a while back with out realising at the time , how significant this humble piece was 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
