Hi Chris sorry about the delay in posting the Scottish photos for you ,things have been hectic recently ,here is a scarce Gordon Highlanders Cyclist Corp one signed by the soldier and dated 1915. :)

Here's another, I thought I had more but only these two at the moment again a WW1 Gordon Highlander ,not the best condition bit nice in the fact he has his full Highland kit on.

thank you very much. I love those Scottish Soldier pictures. They're always very special :)

 

I wonder if they even worn the kilts in the battlefield?!

kept getting tangled in the barb wire.Trousers were more praticle i would imagine.

Graeme is your man for this though

I'll have to check a book for confirmation but I think it was to do with hygiene. The pleats in the kilt were a spreading ground for lice.

What I said above about Kilts was crap.

 

They were worn in Battle in WWII. The A&SH wore them.

 

I don't really think there is anything that can or should stop a Regiment wearing them today, in Battle, other than practicality.
