Kenny Andrew
Have not seen either of those before Greg, is that the statue of liberty on the left one?
Greg
It is a statue of liberty. I thought it might by a NY Army National Guard or some form of vetran medal but cannot prove that at all. The Croix de Geurre turns up on lists as official foreign medal for US servicemen to wear. The other two do not. Service record was in the 7th field artillery observation battalion, xx corps, 3rd army from 1942-1946 so perhaps next thing is to trace the unit and see where they were.
Kenny Andrew
sounds a good idea, maybe they are not military , perhaps police of fire brigade if he served with them before or after the war.

leon21
No luck yet with shield pin, could be insignia of a unit seen other shield pins for Artillery units. But did come a cross a book Patton's Forward Observers, History of the 7th Field Artillery Observation Battalion XX Corps 3rd Army by John.K.Rieth. Had a quick look inside on Kindle, looks a interesting book bags of usefull information, covers all the battles lists all the members of the battalion and what medals, citations each member won.
Greg
I've seen the book as well, it is quite good. Pins for the US Army are a mixed bunch. You would see pins for things like Presidential Unit Citations and attachments to large headquaters. But it remains a bit of a under documented area because it isn't too often you come across them - the US prefers ribbon bars and patches more often.
