leon21
Heres a few more photos, the 1st one is a photo/postcard ( note the Stamp ), Looks like a hidden message under stamp. Was this a common practice on stamped mail ?. Looks like she could'nt remove the stamp to read message. 2nd a postcard/photo of GeneralOberst Keitel. 3rd a postcard/photo of young couple. 4th photo looks like Staff car and Officers. Greg
neat with the stamp, not sure about a secret message, if she knew it was there why not remove the stamp? It can come off easily with a little steam. I would think the soldier marked the stamp spot with a code for the mail officer to charge him for a stamp rather than carry stamps around himself. We do that in our office, I put a code on my letters where the stamp goes and the mail room franks and posts them for me charging back my department based on the code. leon21
Thanks Greg, had'nt thought of that. I'm sure i've read somewere that soldiers sometimes left little messages under the stamp for only a loved one to read.
