leon21
Pensions of soldiers killed in action. I recieced this E-Mail from my brother yesterday who is ex-navy, he served on HMS Ark Royal back in the 1980's before an accident on shore ended his navel career. Here is his E-Mail. Sergeant Matthew Telford of the Grenadier Guards was Premoted to the rank of Sergeant in June 2009. In November of that year, Sergeant Telford was one of five Brittish Soldiers killed when a Rogue Afghan Policeman opened fire on them. His wife and family will only receive a Corporal's Pension since he only held his rank of Sergeant for less than a year. However he was killed on operations by the Enemy whilst wearing three stripes of a Sergeant on active service. If any of you would like to support a change in the rules that deny a hero's widow the pension she deserves. then sign the petition on. http://Soldiers-Pensions.co.uk/?q=Petition Or forward onto any sympathetic contacts you may have. Greg
Leon, This is actually old news and luckily already resolved. The MOD agreed in 2010 to amend rules so soldiers would receive pension based on rank at death. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-12019353
