    Blyth Shore Battery

Iv'e not been down to the Battery for some time, but walking down the sea front recently I noticed two big Guns in the battery. The Guns are replica Mark VII 6" Naval Guns and virtually the same as the ones that would have been there in WW2. Manufactured by M Fairington Engineers ltd, and hot dipped galvanized by Birtley Galvanizing Ltd. The Guns were transported and lifted into the Emplacements and bolted into place by W.L.Strauhan & Sons Ltd. The Grand Opening Event took place on the 6" April 2019 with Colonel Benjamin Speke Deputy lord Lieutenent of Northumberland taking the Honours also there were several members of the Council. Photo's from other sources.
