    German ww1 equipment

    Nice items, and well marked!
  8. A vendor that I deal with has a paint that they claim is a historical match, so going to try it out and see how it looks.
  9. What colour are you going to paint it.

    CSRG Chauchat

Early model CSRG without flash hider, to the right, personal leather magazine carrier and backpack magazine carrier.
  12. Picked up another M1917 Helmet shell, this one is marked ZE33. No texture or much of the original paint left. I have primed it for a new paint job and texturing.
  13. From my old notes, I forgot about these sources. https://chuckhawks.com/nagant_revolver.htm A really interesting video on ammo and gas seal. Worst trigger pull on a revolver that I ever encountered! Cartridges really stick in the cylinder of the rebuilt weapons. Not so much on bring backs in original condition. Really slow to reload in combat. A nice documented bring back; https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/342635-russian-nagant-m1895-revolver-bringback/ Take Down:

  15. Hi everyone, here are some pieces of german equipment from my collection: -1914 early style 98/05 bayonet with a steel scabbard -1917 late style 98/05 bayonet with steel scabbard -ersatz bayonet and scabbard, still with original paint -hebel flare gun, completely matching numbers -pioneer wire cutters -dogtag set (posted them before separately) -prussian belt with belt buckle (+ an extra belt buckle) -1915 bread bag with nice markings, initals and a name -1915 cavalry or artillery ammo pouch -egg grenade with inert fuse -telegraph/communication unit headphones -mg08 and mg08/15 ammo belt with inert rounds I'd like to get a complete set of original equipment, but I still need quite a few pieces (bayonet frog, backpack, zeltbahn, messtin, canteen, infantry ammo pouches, shovel,...) It will probably take quite a while, but it'll be worth it.
  16. The young woman caught in the crossfire was Katharina Esser. She was buried in an unnamed grave. Nearly 70 years later, her identity was confirmed and a grave marker was made. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/11/10/us/ww2-reunion-us-german-veterans/index.html Quelle: CN live_0863e072-b90d-424d-8287-c25e6175532f.avif

    M-16 helmet

The stamp on the dome interior is ingot smelting lot number provided by the steel mill, this was done so if there were defective helmets in the batch they could be tracked down and recalled.
  19. You are quite welcome USMC, glad this post brightened your day!
  20. I do plan on getting a nice WW1 period holster and accessories, have not had a chance to get into that yet. This is my 1st Nagant pistol, slowly moving into the Czarist/Russian items.
  21. Have you considered an original WW I holster?
  22. Nowhere as nice as a WW I bring back Nagant, but here is a view of my Uncles WW II bring back from Berlin in its original holster. I never got the story. He died just after I got out of the Corps and after the funeral she shoved it into my truck and said a vet should have this. Thanks Gildwiller 1918 you brought back some old memories with this post.
  23. I actually have more fun shooting my Nagant Pellet pistol replica: The Gletcher NGT RF CO2 Pellet Revolver. Fun, and the cartridges do not stick in the cylinder. On an original those Russian cartridges expand and are difficult to extract. I will take a Tokarev over a Nagant all day long. A review of the Pellet shooter Nagant revolver- a real hoot to shoot... https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2015/06/gletcher-nagant-pellet-revolver-part-1/ https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2015/07/gletcher-nagant-pellet-revolver-part-2/ https://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2015/07/gletcher-nagant-pellet-revolver-part-3/
