Fritz
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, * Frankfurt/M., 1749, + Weimar, 1832, was a Minister in the State of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach, and a writer with a renown, along with Friedrich Schiller, unexcelled even by "Shakespeare". He also held the most important European decorations of the day, France, Legion d`'Honneur, Russia, Order of St.Anne, Saxony-Weimar, Order of the White Falcon, Bavaria, Order of The Crown, etc. This is volume five of sixteen volumes. Used to be a must in education for all German schools, much less nowadays. Probably his most famous poem was "Erlkönig", which I am sure almost every German child had to learn at some stage: Wer reitet so spät durch Nacht und Wind? Mein Sohn, was birgst du so bang dein Gesicht?
