 Dear Experts,

I have in my possession since some time, an iron cross 2nd class from WW2 and one from WW1. If I remember correctly I bought the WW2 one in Prague around 2007ish and the WW1 in Istanbul in 2014. I have always wondered if they were the "real deal". Could you care to have a look at them and hopefully assert their genuinity. Both cores are magnetic.

Thank you in advance !

Dear Experts,

Thank you very much for your answers :) I have another couple of questions. What do you think about the ribbon of the WW2 one? Not that I am planning on selling these items, but I wonder what the approximative value of them would be in this condition.

Thank you already for your answers :)

Both ribbons perfectly ok! Why sell? You can only get money, and iron crosses are higher than munnie

Thank you for your answer. Just to clarify, I am not planning to sell these, ever. I was just wondering :)

Look under a lens for a makers mark on the ring, could make it more valuable.

Dear Kenny, Dear Fritz,

Thank you very much for your answers. I have been looking at the rings but at first glance couldn't find a makers mark.

Hello All,

I’m really enjoying learning from this forum!

I’ve attached two photos of a World War Two iron cross second class I bought in Estonia last year. It does have a mark on the ribbon attachment but it’s difficult to photograph. That seems such a random place to put a makers mark! Is there any reason why they chose it?

I do wonder why the paint on the swastika has been worn down? Is this commonly seen? IMG_0018.thumb.jpeg.aed619c0f0959914c319b61041b10486.jpegIMG_0018.thumb.jpeg.aed619c0f0959914c319b61041b10486.jpegIMG_0018.thumb.jpeg.aed619c0f0959914c319b61041b10486.jpeg

Good photos, it looks original, not unusual for the black finish to be worn down on the high points. Use a magnifying glass to read the number, try and make a photo of the number on the ring, it can be done. Do you have the ribbon?
