Greg
Since we just hit the Berlin Wall 20th anniv... some recently acquired East German items sent to me from Germany... don't worry they cost me nothing, but DDR medals are pennies in value anyways! Left to right: NVA reservists medal (really a pin type design) DDR 23rd anniv. celebration pin DDR/USSR 30 years friendship pin 7 year Socialists Activists badge DDR Sport Stick Pin Gold Grade 2 DDR Sport Pins Silver Grade
Kenny Andrew
East German items are starting to get collectible as are the 1957 West German awards
Greg
Ostalgia is growing... but the quality of items is still terrible. Pins are cheap metal like material. Interesting medal I'd love to get my hands on - Blücher Order The order medals were to be awarded for valour in time of war. As the NVA never went to war they never were awarded, however they were made and kept locked away for WWIII so the DDR could happily pin them on the chests of the first soldiers to invade the West. Practically the entire produced amount are kept on display in Drseden at the Military History Museumn of the Bundeswehr in a large safe... rather an odd reminder of what could have been
Wolf
ww2 german stuff is so copied & sold as fakes to the novice,so I don't blame a lot of collectors going back to ww1 or forward to the cold war era like I have. Still love the collecting bug though. Wolf.
