leon21 Posted May 26 Posted May 26 An RAF pilot was killed yesterday when the Supermarine Spitfire of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight crashed near RAF Conningby airbase. The Spitfire one of six used by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight For Displays is thought to be that of MK 356, but as yet to be confirmed. A sad day for the family and Pilots and crews of the Memorial Flight. Photos from news sources. 3 Quote
Fritz Posted May 26 Posted May 26 I don't know why people keep risking vintage aircraft, this has happened frequently over the past 20 years or more 3 Quote
leon21 Posted May 27 Author Posted May 27 The Pilot has been named, he was Squadron Leader Mark Long, Mark was a Typhoon Pilot at RAF Conningsby and for the last four years has been a pilot with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. I was a regular visitor to the Memorial Flight building and hanger when I lived and worked in Lincolnshire and would deliver items to the Airbase, I met many of the pilots and crew members when I was there. 3 Quote
