Eugène Vaulot, 1923-1945,  was a French prisoner of war who volunteered for the Légion Francaise. Badly wounded on the Russian Front, he later was with the Kriegsmarine. After recovering from his wounds, he volunteered for the Waffen-SS, joining the 33. Waffen-Grenadier-Division Charlemagne. With the last survivers, he participated in the defence of Berlin in April 1945. Having destroyed several Russian T-34s, he was awarded the Ritterkreuz. Several days later on 2. May 1945 he fell to a Russian sniper. This is the only known photograph.
