leon21 Posted April 8, 2023 Share Posted April 8, 2023 Thomas William Sidmouth Bonnar born 29 Oct 1886 in Sidmouth Devon, occupation Architech and Builder. Formerly a Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve No Y 8905, on 3 Aug 1916 signed up aged 28 and was based at President II a accounting base for the RNAS in London No F 18873 as a Aero Rigger/ Mechanic acting 1st class. On 23 Oct 1916 was at Crystal Palace a training depot for the RNAS until the 2 December, he was then sent to Vendome Paris France on the 3 December which was a flight training depot as Air Mechanic 1st Class and was there until 1st Nov 1917 with a rank of leading mechanic this is when he joined the RAF and his new No 218873. His new title in the RAF was Cpl mechanic at a rate of 5 shillings. he was discharged 6 Mar 1919. I have not found his RAF records yet. After the war he Married Ellen Charge a widow on 12 Feb 1929 at St Peters Church Selsey Sussex, have not found any children, in the 1939 census he is listed as Thomas W S Bonnar Charge living in Lawrence Chichester Sussex and listed occupation Architech and Builder also listed as a RAF Reserve.
