This is a Swiss M1889 bayonet that was used on the M1911 Rifle, the Schmidt-Rubin M1889/96 and carbines. This bayonet was an improvement over the previous model in which a ridge at the end of the blade was added to aid in keeping the bayonet in its scabbard. The ring that goes onto the barrel can be in wither 15 or 14mm, 14mm for carbines, 15mm for the other models. The bayonet is marked Waffenfabrik Neuhausen.
