72 usmc Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 I went to a small local shooting range club's gun show and almost fell over. I find a pellet trainer, and not a common one! I see a Anschutz, German made military pellet rifle. It is an Egyptian military trainer, one of only 2,800 made, and only 2,500 were made with the first order in 1954. I look at a table, and here one sat. It is mine. I will get some pictures up later. When Egypt got rid of these some went to Navy Arms in the U. S. and others went to an English air rifle company around the late 1980s. These are as heavy as a real rifle and are all milled steel. A very high quality springer air rifle that uses a .22 pellet (5.5mm). Not .177. Fritz Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 A friend of mine in England had in the mid 1960s a pre-war Haenel .22 cal., which was a normal looking air rifle, but was very nice, he fitted a new spring, or re-tempered the original and did some rebluing, also finely adjusted the sights. It was excellent to fire. He also overhauled and adjusted my two air rifles, both Diana, 177 and 22, and these performed excellently. He had at the time started to work for Purdy's the Gunsmiths in London. 2 Quote
72 usmc Posted October 24, 2022 Author Posted October 24, 2022 This rifle fires & likes JSB Match EXACT Jumbo RS Diabolo .22 caliber pellets. 13.43 grains of soft lead with a hollow bottom where the skirt is thin and it expands and hugs the barrel for great accuracy. 3 Quote
