Eddieq
Belt taken from a WW1 Turkish officer in Palestine (as it was at the time).
Fritz
More likely an other ranks' or n.c.o. belt. Officer, worn on brocade belt, in wartime on a leather belt Other ranks
Eddieq
I was led to believe that the wreath surrounding the crescent moon denoted an officers belt and without the wreath was other ranks. The provenance is that it was taken from an officer on the battlefield in Palestine by an Australian soldier and his, plus other items came directly from the soldiers grandson. However, I am no expert on these things WW1 related & cant verify any of the claims - hence my reason for posting. I found this photo below (I’m not for one minute saying or eluding that the belt came from Mehmed IV, the last sultan, it was just a similar picture!).
Fritz
This could have been a simplified Turkish made example, the examples above are of German manufacture.
