Information ID request

This was in my grand father's stuff. He was a WW I vet. Can anyone identify what this thing is. Unfortunately time has taken its toll. It was found inside the metal tin that has a name & date.

This is a cigar case, stamped base metal, probably iron, wartime production, a personal souvenir, your grandfather probably added the inscription Arras-Cambrai, Sept.2, 1918.
A small medallion, not official, probably for a member of the Deutsches Flotten Verein, Fleet or Naval Association, base metal and enamel.
