Imperial Germany Book Advice

Recommended Posts

Over the weekend I purchased a 1898/05 sawback bayonet and have decided I’d like to start collecting imperial German particularly ww1 militaria. However after spending a few hours online I’m struggling to find good quality reference/ collectors books on the subject. Can someone recommend some books for me please ?

Very much recommended, out of print, but can still be found.

Very detailed on Württemberg headdress only.

These two books are a good information source about all cavalry regiments, 1914

A very recommendable book on fieldgrey, costs 99 Euros, the publisher has a whole range
of similar publications. Very large and heavy book, but one of the best so far.

The main equipment items are also illustrated and described in Die Deutsche Armee im Ersten Weltkrieg.

I should have mentioned, there are the books by Rüdiger Franz, Preußisch-Deutsche Seitengewehre, in several volumes, but you may want something more comact, such as the catalogue by Klaus Lübbe, can't remember the exact title. There are also the older works by Carter, including Ersatzbajonette.
