This is a fascinating subject, the seals range from higher government authorities down to local official offices and departments, and also the military down to regimental and even batallion level, there were all sorts of possibilities. There are even examples from the 3rd Reich, not often seen. They were used for sealing letters and documents, so many have got broken when the documents were opened. Prices range from 5 Euros upwards. Certain rare regiments can be found as from 15-17 Euros upwards. Still an affordable subject but getting hard to find. These seals were in use from the early to mid 19th century till about 1939. There were also private seals, which wealthy people could order from the firms which printed them. Sometimes found in old books, ex-libris etc.
