Hans Goebeler U-505

Found this inscribed to my father by Hans Goebeler. Pretty cool and I think he is still living.

U-505 can now be visited at Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, I remember reading once about this. Goebeler was still living recently and was often a visitor to the museum or even worked there, where he explained to visitors the story of the boat. The boat was on it's 8th venture when it was captured, the boat was to be scuttled, but it was saved in time by a boarding party and kept afloat and brought to Bermuda by the US Navy. I believe the commandant of the boat was lost, but most of the crew became prisoners of war.

Now I remember reading the book in 2010 - "Im Stahlmantel", originally published as "Steel Boats, Iron Hearts", 2007
It was quite a story in all.
