Germany - Politicians destroy war grave(s)

War graves may be endangered in future due to political correctness:

Ohlsdorf -

Täter liegen neben Opfern, SS-Leute neben KZ-Insassen.

SS-Standarte in Altona.

This gravestone was "shredded" on order of the Hamburger Senate
An empty space between war graves. A disgrace that goes to the account of the Hamburg Senate

Here is the English translation of the text

Perpetrators lie next to victims, SS people next to concentration camp inmates. Up until the 1960s, thousands of people were buried as war victims in large grave fields at the Ohlsdorf cemetery. The grave of a former commandant of the Dachau concentration camp was even found here. But the grave site has now finally been destroyed, the tombstone has been shredded. In 2019, Christiane Schneider, a member of the Bundestag for the Left, uncovered the scandal and denounced that the grave of SS-Oberführer (Colonel) Hermann Baranowski was still being looked after at state expense. Baranowski was born in Schwerin in 1884. The son of a brewery worker became a naval officer in World War I and ran a grocery store in Hamburg during the Weimar Republic. In 1930 the merchant saw Hitler at a meeting in the Hanseatic city and first joined the Nazi party, then the SS. Baranowski quickly made a career and in 1936 was leader of the 4th SS Standard in Altona. In the same year he took over the management of the Lichtenburg concentration camp, then came to Dachau as a "protective custody camp leader", and later became the concentration camp commandant in Sachsenhausen. After a long illness he died in February 1940 in Aue in the Ore Mountains. Because of his wartime death, Baranowski was believed to be a "war victim". According to the War Graves Act of 1952, survivors of soldiers could apply for permanent grave maintenance from federal funds. The prerequisite for this was reburial in a war grave. At least 2,330 soldiers, but also SS men, were reburied in the war cemetery in Ohlsdorf. At first the cemetery had announced that it would commission historians to deal with these dead. But then a hamburger petitioned the Senate and asked for the grave of the concentration camp commandant to be eradicated. The Senate complied and had the tombstone destroyed.

Thanks for the translation.   This is only the start, the next ones will be all graves of the Waffen-SS and many others. War grave is war grave. The Hamburger Senat has nothing to do with war graves, they should keep out of this, responsable for war graves is the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge in Kassel, I am surprised they let this go through.
