That is a nice one, looks like zink with a lot of the silver finish remaining, getting harder to find in that sort of condition.

Here are the two, solid-backed, which I have, the first one is marked 30 for Münze/Wien, this is tombak with a good silver finish, with wear to high points.
The other is 107 by Carl Wild, Hamburg, zink and has lost most of it's silver finish and darkened.
The black one is hollow, unmarked of brass or tombak with most of it's original finish.

My first one was a nice zink example with most of the silver finish remaining, it had a really nice appearance, which is hard to find nowadays, maker was 65 (Klein & Quenzer).  Unfortunately, parted with that years ago. Wound badges were very much taken for granted in the past by many collectors, they have now increased in popularity and price, as many other items are becoming less available and unaffordable.

Very nice! It is getting hard to find any wound badge in decent shape nowadays.

Zink is a very unpredictable material, it can oxidise for apparently no reason.

The black ones used to be plentiful, now they are getting hard to get, and in good shape also. The silver infantry assault badge is very common here, and the finish is usually not good on those anymore also.

Here is a wound badge no-one is going to find in a hurry. Does anyone recognise this?    One clue or hint  is "Guy Fawkes"

I believe this is the wound badge given to the survivors of the plot to kill Hitler...if so, original ones would be extremely rare and expensive.

Quite right, there was only a handfull awarded. They have turned up occasionally at renowned auctioneers, etc. I believe the firm Juncker produced them.

I don't even want to guess what they went for at auction!

I don't think I remember seeing the end price, that was a few years back.
