WW1 Austro-Hungarian M1915 Zeitzünder

Recommended Posts

Here is a very nice condition M15 Zeitzünder rifle grenade, which was used on the Mannlicher M1895 or Infanterie Repetier-Gewehr M.95. I just got this one this week. This grenade was very versatile, as it could be used as a hand grenade as well. It had a friction fuse, that was exposed, and was susceptible to moisture. The body of the grenade was made from cast iron, and segmented very well. The nose cone has two holes which allow for a carrying handle to be inserted, or to be used as a throwing handle. I have yet to find any period photographs of the item in actual use. I am working on making a replacement rod to complete the grenade. I have read they were used on the Russian front predominantly.
