Grenade á Main Incendiare M16

Here is a French designed thermite hand grenade, the Grenade á Main Incendiare mle 1916, and used by the US forces known as the MK 1 thermite grenade. This example is a real one that was recovered, emptied and partially restored to its original look. Live versions were painted grey and used a percussion fuse with a 5 second delay. Typically there was a paper label around the top of the grenade body as well. Thermite grenades were mainly used to destroy captured artillery and guns or to destroy ones own before they could be captured. These are very rare and do not come up for sale often.
