WW1 French Incendiaire et Fumigene Mle 1916

Recommended Posts

Here is a WW1 era French Incendiaire et Fumigene Mle 1916, (inert, as all mine are) which was a smoke grenade that was also used by US forces in France. The body is made from 2 halves of tin and soldered together, with a threaded opening at the top for the fuse which is the Mle 1916 brilliant fuse. These grenades contained 300 grams of White Phosphorus (WP) and had a fuse delay of 5 seconds. The normal color for the exterior is horizon blue to denote smoke/incendiary ordnance.
