Fritz
Recent find in a garden in Hochkirch, Saxony The headlines: 34 dead lay in my garden! After a find by building workers on private grounds, police were called, and later archeologists. The 34 dead were identified as Prussian grenadiers from the Battle of Hochkirch, 1758, during the Seven Years War. They had lain for over 250 years undiscovered. They had been hurriedly buried after the slaughter. Both Friedrich II. and the Austrians had high losses. Apart from 34 skeletons, little remains for the archeologists, other than a few rusted buttons and lead bullets. The local "Pastor" wants to re-bury the dead as soon as possible. NB- there is no mention of any sort of memorial Source: BILD Hamburg 2 1
