WW1 Tornister

Here is a nice 1917 dated Tornister pack. It is also marked "331 & BD III, 1917", meaning it was used by a Bavarian unit at some point. Overall it is in nice shape, some of the straps are dried out and cracked, but overall in decent shape.

You should treat the leather to preserve it, esp. the leather binding to the edges, which was originally greygreen leather. I have the earlier fur covered version.
Unfortunately, I don't have the leather straps for attaching mess tin (2) and ground sheet (3).
I can see the B.D.III in the photo, but the left side of the stamp is hard to make out. Below this is a 3, significance not known.

I will treat the leather shortly to preserve it. WW1 era versions of these packs are getting hard to find, I see a lot of the WW2 versions however.
