Fritz
Not a photo, but a very expressive illustration. Battle of Haelen, 12. August 1914 An attack against fortified houses by several regiments of the 17. and the 3. Kavallerie-Brigade was repulsed by fierce Belgian resistance in the small town of Haelen/Halen: The illustration shows a soldier of Pommersches Ulanen-Regiment 9 (Demmin) Uniform illustration is not quite accurate.
Gildwiller1918
Here is a nice photo I found searching on the internet. It shows a German soldier, looks like a NCO with a wide array of grenades. He has several M1916 stick grenades with the label visible on them. Also more interestingly is the M1915 Kugel grenade in the carrier on his hip, not too many photos of these. His gas mask is at the ready as well, good view of the bayonet.

Fritz
Husaren-Regiment 15 in Wandsbek, there are quite a few of them around, mostly no details of the person depicted. We have quite a few in the Museum in Wandsbek. I bought around 20 last year for the Museum, which I had to pay for myself. No acknowledgement came in return. However, this is an interesting regiment, and the only one with battle honours on an emblem. On the right arm is a Winkel for good lance fencing and a badge for a signaler / Winkerabzeichen
Gildwiller1918
Here is a nice front line photo, although not crisp, shows great details. The man on the far left is wearing the so-called lobster armor, he also has a stick grenade in his left hand and his bayonet troddel is visible as well. The sniper has a troddel as well, and some M1917 stick grenades. The Machine gunner is using the MG 08/15, a lighter, portable version of the MG 08 which weighed 18 kilos (without water in the cooling jacket), versus the MG 08 which weighed 69 kilos minus the 39 kilo mounting sled.
Fritz
Drawings, sketches and postcards by Heinrich Zille,*10. Januar 1858 in Radeburg bei Dresden † 9. August 1929 in Berlin Artist and photographer Heinrich Zille, was always looking for picture inspirations in Arbeiter- und Elendsviertel. Er galt als sozialkritisch. Gildwiller1918
Nice detailed photo of an Austro-Hungarian officer, most likely a Lieutenant as the photo said it was an officer, but its hard to tell as the background and star color mattered in this respect. Whatever rank he is, he is well armed and ready for a fight! He has at least 7 M1917 stick grenades, the M1917 gas mask, M1895 bayonet, and a revolver, not a KuK issue.

Fritz
First early attempts to protect against gas attack, Sächsisches Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 106, the 'R' is barely visible above the number Landsturm. Unusual that they have been issued with the latest fieldgrey uniforms, they have unusual footwear and wear the traditional Tschako of the Landsturm, here with field covers. They also have the proper cartridge pouches and other equipment and are carrying the Gew.88. The leader is here a Vize-Feldwebel with officer's sidearm and the regulation brown shoes and leather gaiters for officers. He is also wearing the spiked helmet rather than the Landsturm Tschako.
