Gildwiller1918
Here is a new item, WW1 German Bread bag (Brotbeutel), the M1893 model. This one appears to be unused, as the leather straps are mint and the canvas looks to be in great condition. Only issue is one button is missing, to hold the leather strap down, which can easily be replaced.
Fritz
Nice example, I think this is the 1914 version, it is dated 1916 - it was grey in colour and a slightly different shape to the previous model, which was brownish, the grey just has slight fading in this example. The button can easily be replaced by an aluminium or zink Zeltbahnknopf of the period, these can still be found, they had 3 holes. A detatchable strap was also issued with this, similar to WW2 model. Possibly unworn, left over and re-issued to the police in the Weimar Period - see stamp S.P.G. = Schutzpolizei G. (name of area?)
Gildwiller1918
You might be right Fritz, it may have been re-issued after the war. I do have the strap as well, just looking for an extra button now.
