Destroyed German Tank, Mk 4

This photo is from 1943, Tunisia. It says "destroyed panzer 4". Looks like the barrel burst from a defective round or by deliberate action such as disabling the tank. Some of the reinforcing bolts in the area are missing to, which shows the force of the explosion.

"Rohrkrepierer" ?  Or was the vehicle "scuttled" by it's crew?  If a Panzer had to be abandoned, it was "Pflicht" to destroy it first.
