Gildwiller1918
Interesting photo of a RAF Hurricane in Russia. Still trying to identify the unit, FN possibly? Looks like Z3977 on the fuselage. I know the RAF had units in Russia and they flew Hurricanes, number 81, 134 and 504 squadrons. But none of these codes match the letter designation on this plane. Z3977 was in the fifth production batch produced by Hawker Aircraft Limited, to contract 62305/39. Powered by Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engines. Aircraft deliveries commenced on the 14th January, 1941 and were completed by the 28th July, 1941, average rate of production was five aircraft per day.
Fritz
The 55-FN might give some indication of the squadron, unusal, as they usually had all letters.
