WW1 US M1917 Bolo with metal scabbard

Recommended Posts

In 1917 the US began to streamline production on the M1917 bolo's which became known as the M1917 CT, which was virtually identical to the M1917 version with some differences in welded parts. This bolo was issued with the standard canvas covered scabbard, however, another scabbard was produced late in the war. This version was made from stamped steel and painted green, it also had a leather tab on the reverse with the belt hook attachment. Primarily these knives were issued to machine gun crews for clearing brush from the field of fire, however they also were issued to engineers and infantry as well and others who could get their hands on them.
