From same private collection as before

Officer's helmet, Kürassier-Regiment Nr.2, older type, ca. 1867

image.thumb.png.817ab9eb865e5f89bd2ec63f9603097b.png

Has been very well restored.

The helmet in original condition as found in a Museum in the Middle West, USA, purchased and since restored.

The earlier officers' helmets were not nickel-plated like the later ones, and also had a more simple and robust leather liner, without the silk head piece. This is all the easier to restore.

Württemberg, Reserve-Offizier, Dragoner-Regiment Nr. 26. The wearer fell in the first days of the war, this was purchased direct from the family,
a decade ago. As far as I remember, this was a Leutnant d.Reserve Dr. Albrecht from Stuttgart

Another very rare helmet from a private collection
Officer's helmet, Leib-Kürassier-Regiment Großer Kurfürst (Schlesisches) Nr.1, Breslau, VI. A.K., ca. 1913
with the special eagle emblem adopted in 1902. The officers of this regiment also had this unique form of
chinscales and cockades. The emblem is the so-called "Friderizianisches Muster" with scroll "Pro Gloria et Patria"

An example of this is also on offer presently for 38.500 Euros

Pictures recently sent of a helmet discovered in USA. The helmet was basicly untouched, but leather dry, front and back peak adrift, and metal fittings strongly platinated. Has now been restored. A guard's helmet dated 1913 and with white metal fittings, either Garde-Füsilier-Regiment, 5. Garde-Regiment zu Fuss, Garde-Pionier-Bataillon or possibly even from 1. Garde-Regiment, no further discernable markings apart from B.A.G. - Bekleidungsamt Garde and 1. K. (Kompagnie).  Apparently complete with original cockades and chinstrap.

99 percent of such plates are copies. However, this collector, whom I personally know, would not accept or be fooled by copies

Hessen: Leibgarde-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 115, in fieldgrey felt
Relatively few felt helmets have survived. This regiment wore white metal fittings only.

This helmet was on auction last year, starting price was 17.000 Euro

A helmet of the Leibgendarmerie, 1. Zug only. Wearer was Walter Madel. The 1. Zug consisted of only about 10 men. The 2. Zug wore a completely different uniform, see photos. Maker was C.E. Juncker, 1913
The centre of the emblem is finely enamelled. On this example the Reichskokarde is missing.

Personnel for the 1. Zug were drawn from the Regiment Garde du Corps, for the 2. Zug from Kürassier-Regiment Königin.
