Hello, does anyone have an opinion on the authenticity of this Iron Cross?

It's a 1st class Rudolf Souval.

The swastika's edges look dull which is not a good sign.

All:

I just finished reading all the posts, what a great exchange between everyone. A big 'THANK YOU' to Kenny Andrew, Fritz, Gildwiller1918, Eddieq, Urkund1939, Xcvu, and Phantom for sharing their knowledge with others. The ones asking the questions and the ones providing the answers make the Forum great.

Best regards, John R.

Hi! I've been very interested in buying an Iron Cross 2nd class. I've seen several posts here about the price being around £60 for such pieces. Could I ask for any recommendations of where I could buy such a medal? UK/ europe based.

Hi Stan, welcome to the forum. If you click on the Treasure Bunker banner at the top of the forum we usually have Iron Crosses in stock, however they have gone up in price, certainly for WW2 you won't get one for £60 anymore. You will still get Imperial for around that price but for second world war 2nd class these now start around £90 upwards depending on condition and maker marks.

@Kenny Andrew I do not see any on offer. Is that the case? Are they usually  on offer, is there any alternative places? Pardon my ignorance, but I'm just wondering about the guarantee of authenticity? It is not a challenge, I am only wondering.

Hi Stan, we are sold out of Iron Crosses at the moment but keep an eye on the website you never know what might turn up. All our items have a lifetime guarantee of authenticity. There are lots of dealers on line who sell Iron crosses just make sure they have a lifetime guarantee of authenticity then if there are any problems you can get your money back.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. In the meantime I see you have some really nice wound badges, so I'll take a look at those :)

Hi, I've got a Cross with Swords and Oak leaves, which I'm assuming is a replica, given that there weren't that many of them. But wanted to see people's thoughts. I know it was a gift to a (now dead) relative about 25 odd year ago and cost around £100. I've read that real ones are (in the main) magnetic, which my one is. I've also seen that the edges of the swastika on the real on is sharp while the fake one's are rounded. It looks like mine are sharp. My one is also quite thin, with the fake one's a bit thicker. If people could let me know what they think it would be very helpful. As it's not something I really want to keep, and if it's real it's worth quite a bit but if it's not then it's worth a lot less. I can see on the back of the medal (the 1817 side) there are is an engraving but I can't quite made it out.

Welcome to the forum, its a poor quality copy of an L/12 C.E. Junker of Berlin medal.

May be a real silver copy of an iconic decoration an complete with a matching case. Should be worth something as a collector's copy, if silver, in the region of 150 pounds or more. Check the internet for similar examples and prices.

The Swords and Oakleaves are stamped 325 or 025 can't make out the first number properly.

825 silver content would be more likely. The stamp is not always a guarantee that a copy is real silver.

Hi All

Every original Juncker (L/12) Knights Cross that I’ve come across have all been marked with the silver content ‘800’ on the frame as well as L/12. For me, the swords and oak leaves don’t have the quality you would expect also.
I don’t have any originals lying around to compare it too though 😒, but I would say a copy.

No, not quite the quality, but ideal for reenactment or theater or film, or to decorate a uniform on display.
A real Knights Cross would cost over 20.000,-

Thanks for the answers guys. Sorry another question, what's the best way to sell it? I've contacted 2 online sellers, 1 said they weren't interested and the other didn't reply. Ebay took my sales post down (I blocked out the swastika but clearly wasn't enough) even though there are other sales posts with swastikas on. I see people selling Knights Cross boxes for £70 a go. Is this code? Buy this expensive empty box and get a knights cross for free.

Hi Darth, welcome to the forum. It is indeed a copy. I sponsor this forum but also have a shop, if you would like to message me or email me at info@treasurebunker.com I might be interested depending on how much you would like for it.
