Gwar Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I used to collect FAD buckles and still have some, Now I have been focusing on Generalarbeitsfuhrer / Arbeitsgaufuhrer's, Lost RAD Abt. and Arbeitslagers and Emsland units.. I have about 80-90 buckles, and a few brocades all RAD, one brocade mint unissued in original box and wrapping paper. I will post again soon on the correlation of Richard Sieper & Sohn and the truth behind Paulmann and Crone RAD buckles. 4 Quote
Fritz Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 My goodness, what an array! (I've got one buckle, but a good one) My mother-in-law had the name of Paulmann (Paulmann & Krone) after her second marriage! 3 Quote
Fritz Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 My only example, by a Lüdenscheid maker, 1937 2 Quote
Gwar Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 Thanks Fritz, Ludenscheid was probably the biggest area of buckle manufacturers, F.W. Assman & Sohn, Richard Sieper & Sohn, Christian Theodore Dicke , Fredrich Linden, Overhof & Cie, Ernst Schneider etc; etc;. Do you recognize the maker of your specimen ? Very interested to see what Co. produced your example. I will soon start a thread that will demonstrate most RAD buckle makers marks.. G 3 Quote
Fritz Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 I'll have to take a look and make some more photos. 3 Quote
Fritz Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Both tab and buckle are by RS & S, Sieper & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, 1937 as the majority of buckles seem to be. The script on the tab is a bit hard to make out, apart from Lüdenscheid. Lüdenscheid/Pfalz was one of the bigger manufacturing areas of the leather industry apart from Offenbach/M. BASF (Badische Analin- u. Sodafabriken AG) produced the chemicals for the analine dyes and tans. Some definite wear to the soft aluminium of the buckle, slight patina. This example came from a dealer in England. 3 Quote
Gwar Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 Fritz, Much obliged for the additional pics, this is what it looked like when originally issued. I plan on posting the Brocade very soon from now. G 3 Quote
Fritz Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Do you also have some belts for these? It's a shame that so many belts have landed on the scrapheap and only buckles being cherished. There used to be tons of good belts available, now you only occasionally see a poor example. 4 Quote
Gwar Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 Yes, Fortunately I do have the belts that came with some of my RAD buckles and a few are R.A.D. BA marked or marked with a RAD Gau. XXXII stamping for example.. 3 Quote
