Schützenschnur and Marksmanship insignia

Fritz

Recommended Posts

Schützenschnur of lowest grade for infantry with one acorn (Eichel)
and for artillery with metal grenade. The infantry example wth considerable wear, has a dark blue backing patch stamped J.R.18
on the artillery example, the backing is missing. These patterns were issued to all the armies, except for Bavaria, which had its own design. The Bavarian examples were made in blue and white thread rather than red-white-black.

Green Armband with the Marksmanship insignia associated with the Kaiserpreis for Jäger. Significance of armband is not known, possibly a post monarchy traditional piece associated with hunting, over the stags head is the Cross of St. Hubertus, patron saint of hunters and the Imperial Crown, gilt finish.
