Fritz Posted October 28, 2016 Share Posted October 28, 2016 Manfred Krug, born in Dortmund in 1937, a very popular actor in films and TV, died at his home in Berlin on 21st October it was announced yesterday. Early postwar he had moved with his father to the Soviet Zone, where he later became an actor. His was successfull in DDR films, two of his last films, including the controversial "Spur der Steine" (1966), were taken out of circulation and banned, being forgotten till after the wall came down. In 1977 he criticised the explusion of regime critic, Wolf Biermann, and also lost his DDR-citizenship and left for Westberlin. Krug carried on in the West with much success, especially with the tv-series "Detektivbüro Roth" and "Liebling Kreuzberg", in which he played a solicitor.He also sang with much success and wrote several books. In 1968 he recieved the "Nationalpreis der DDR" and again in 1971.
