Situated in the old churchyard of the Christuskirche in Wandsbek Markt is an obelisk as a memorial to those of the town of Wandsbek, who fell in the War of 1870/1. The memorial has suffered several times from graffiti, and has been re-cleaned, which does not improve tne condition of it's substance. The memorial is of sandstone, the plaques of white marble

Buried in this churchyard is also Matthias Claudius (+1815) and his wife Rebecca. Claudius was probably the most well.known North German writer, poet and chronist of his time, associated with the "Wandsbecker Bothe" His most popular poem was "Der Mond ist aufgegangen..."

Apart from this, there is also the grave of the Danish General-Lieutenant Friedrich Philipp Victor von Moltke (1768-1845), who was the father of the Prussian Field Marshall Helmut Karl Bernhard von Moltke (+1891), and a memorial plaque for Helmut James Graf von Moltke (*11.3.1907 Kreisau in Schlesien; †23.7.1944 Berlin-Plötzensee), a member of the "Kreisauer Kreis", executed for his involvement in the bomb plot against Adolf Hitler.
