Five former GDR Officers of the NVA at the Soviet Memorial in Berlin-Treptow Court case due to march in NVA uniforms is dropped, 29.10.2015

In May 2013 former DDR officers of the NVA marched to the Soviet War Memorial in Berlin-Treptow wearing their old uniforms and brought about a lot of trouble. Now they can relax. The District Court of Berlin-Tiergarten has dropped charges and closed the court case, after the second trial.

After the parade in DDR Nationale Volksarmee uniforms, four former DDR Officers get off without prosecution. Dirstrict Court of Tiergarten dropped the charges due to illegal wearing of uniforms at demonstrations last Tuesday due to pettyness. The chief prosecutor: Neither prosecution nor acquital would be the right signal

DDR NVA uniforms are not to be worn? I know WWII Uniforms cannot be worn but I was once part of a group in East Germany - won't say where - but all were former NVA Pioneer (mostly) and had kept, well everything including the tanks! Weekends were dress up in the old uniforms and drive the stuff around the old base for fun.

But this last time was in Treptower Park, and that is very public, so it attracted too much attention, the media, so there were complaints - and then the state prosecutor - Staatsanwalt, The DDR Regime was anything but harmless, and thousands of people suffered for over 40 years under them, it was much worse than in the Third Reich, and everybody was affected, not just minority groups, so somebody has made sure that they won't come off unscathed (nicht ungeschoren davon kommen!)
