sommewalker
Welcome to "Collingwood post number 2" this post like the history of that battalion is short but full of meaning, and deep significance, I am not going to go over old ground, but keep this short, the badges in the box are small, but they speak volumes, the Collingwood shoulder title is the genuine article! as people often point out there are fakes! this isn't one of them, neither is the number 4 that surmounts it either, when buying badges you have to do your research , and ask opinions , sometimes you don't hear what you want to? "BUT" also you have to go on "trust!" look at the shop or business you are purchasing it from, Kenny's always a good source of information many of you know my "passion!" for the RND and everything they did in the short time they were in existence, this shoulder title says to me, a band of gallant sailors, that went to war in square rig! with old weapons!, some only had 6 weeks training if that!! it also says to me , sailors that fought and died in land battles from Antwerp and Gallipoli, and sustained such causality's their numbers were so small , and with very few officers , were disbanded in June 1916 and absorbed into other battalions, it and the number 4(=4th battalion",) also say to me they fought like "TIGERS! AND UPHELD THE PROUD TRADITIONS OF THE ROYAL NAVY, BLESS THEM ONE AND ALL..............................................
