stewy
Here is a nice group to Wilhelm Rauch he joined the Wehrmacht in Sept '42 & served with G.R 502 part of 290 Inf division where he saw plenty of action against partisans. In Nov '43 he was shot in his left leg & it broke his bone. He never really recovered & was discharged in '45 due to his injury. He was awarded the BWB & EK2. The EK doc's signed by Generalleutnant Conrad-Oskar Heinrichs. What is unusual about this group is it includes his RAD Dienstausweis which should be handed in when you left the RAD. stewy
I've since found out EK2 signature is Lieutenant General Kurt Chill. Which makes more sense. Stewy
Fritz
A very nice set of documents. I thought when leaving the RAD, you could take the passbook with you. When leaving the Wehrmacht, you kept your Wehrpaß, Soldbuch, etc., as these may have been needed again, a re-call up was always possible. These would also have to be shown to a future employer and also the "Arbeitsamt", would also be needed for future pension-claims - also in the postwar period! These documents were supposed to be kept life-long.
