Hi Peter, it looks OK from the picture , but it is only the cockade there should be a wreath around it too which is missing , unlikely to be WW1 period more likely 1920's or even early Third Reich. Just heading to work now but maybe some of the others will be able to date it for you. Can't remember exactly when the Kyffhäuserbund was founded think around 1900 ,I know it was disbanded by Hitler in 1943. From the construction looks 1920's to early 1930's to me.

Perfectly correct,

which to me makes it even more rare I do have a Kyffhäuser medal/award ,

and it was issued after ww1 but as its a commemorative award for ww1 veterans

so to my mind falls into the ww1 era, of collecting and interest,

sometimes the smallest items even incomplete can tell a story,

like this one I found that is complete .

yes certainly fits in with WW1 era

after doing more research,

I can confirm the badge is original,

I've found that indeed it was made between 1930-1936

there were various ways of it being worn I've included photos of the 2 I've found,

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

A P.S to this post,

ive included close ups of both centres to show the intricate stitching ,

and the ground in dirt,

  • 5 years later...

Somebody posted the matching (empty) gold wreath on the Forum some time ago. The centre is machine-woven.
